In the recent vlog Hashtag Kid Yambao‘s manager Ogie Diaz, the former got emotional as he revealed that he got hooked on drugs before and he fell victim to an investment scam.
Kid grew up independently and admitted that he tried different kinds of drugs–shabu, marijuana, cocaine, and party drugs before and got addicted to these.
“Lahat ‘yan ginawa ko nang hindi alam ng magulang ko.”
He said that he knew about drugs early because he got exposed to them since grade school.
“Bata ako, nakikita ko na silang gumagamit (ng droga).
“Bata pa lang ako naiisip ko na yun, alam ko na kung ano ‘yun. Grade school ako, nakikita ko sa may damitan ko, may malalaglag sa pantalon ko – tinatago dun.”
Since then, he promised not to use drugs. But when he started living independently, he was eventually influenced by his peers and was forced to use them for the sake of fellowship.
“Ang masakit lang sa akin, ayoko ‘yun eh. Para lang mabuhay, ginawa ko ‘yun.”
When he entered showbiz and started receiving projects and gigs, his addiction to drugs even got worst because he had the money to buy.
He reached the point where he missed a supposed Maalala Mo Kaya project because of his drug addiction. That helped him realized that he should stop using such.
“Ayun ang isa sa mga nagpagising sa ‘kin. Lahat na kayo parang feel ko lahat kayo galit sa ‘kin. Ito nga ‘yung rason para makaangat kami pero bakit gan’on ginagawa ko.”
In the middle part of the interview, when Diaz asked about his family, Kid burst out into tears as he revealed that his father is inside the prison since October.
He also revealed that he has no more money now because he became a victim of an investment scam.
“Nawala ‘yung pera ko, in-invest ko sa tiyuhin ko, na nangyari, tinakbuhan din daw siya.
“As in ma, simot lahat, binigay ko lahat, tapos nahuli pa si erpats.”
However, despite all these, Kid remains his faith in God.
“Ito ‘yung ginawa sa akin ng pandemic, nawala lahat ng pera ko, nakulong ‘yung erpats ko. Dasal pa rin eh.”
He had to accept the Boys Love (BL) series Diving into Love project, where Axel Torres is his partner.
Currently, Kid is striving to maintain his several businesses and save up his earnings from his projects.
