Kapamilya actress Shaina Magdayao shared what it’s like to have their long-running series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (FPJAP) be extended.
In an exclusive interview with the actress, she shared that their series would not last long without the support of their viewers.
“Hindi kami matapos-tapos. Nagpapasalamat kami sa suporta ng mga tao. Kung iisipin mo nabawasan kami ng free TV, ng venue or an outlet.
“Pero to think about parang naging advantage pa siya kasi right now, we’re showing on TV5 tapos A2Z tapos may Youtube, merong pang Facebook,” she said.
FPJAP previously halted airing on free TV due to the non-renewal of ABS-CBN Network’s franchise. The show then aired on pay television Kapamilya Channel while being simulcast on Cine Mo! and Jeepney TV.
The series was later made available in A2Z and TV5 Network.
Magdayao also shared that they thought ABS-CBN’s shutdown would be the end of FPJAP but their series continued to push through with the help of various media outlets.
“We kept on thriving, surviving and fighting.
“Dahil sa pagmamahal ng mga Kapamilya natin, sinusundan talaga ang ‘Ang Probinsyano’ in TV5, A2Z or online. Nagpapasalamat kami sa appreciation nila,” she said.
She said that one of the reasons that the series lasted this long is because of FPJAP star and director Coco Martin.
“You have to give it to [Coco Martin], he’s our director, he’s an actor, he’s also the creative head and he’s also a talent coordinator minsan location manager pa nga.
“The faith that he has for the network and for the people na nakakatrabaho niya, binabalik lang naman namin sa kanya by doing our best kapag nag di-direct siya at ‘pag nasa set kami,” Magdayao said.
Magdayao noted that they will continue to give their best in the series as long as there are still people supporting them.
On June 28, the AGB Nielsen NUTAM survey showed that FPJAP held to its top-four ranking as it recorded a rating of 11.0%
The series is also strong online as it drew a new peak of 154,039 live concurrent viewers on June 3, smashing its own YouTube record for an eight consecutive night and eleventh overall.
Shaina Magdayao plays the character of Roxan Opeña in FPJAP. Her character is a member of the show’s Task Force Agila Policewoman.
Meanwhile, the actress recently relaunched her business called “Organized Chicas.”
She shared that her business idea was rooted in FPJAP when she wanted to organize her things on set.
“I have to thank the [Ang Probinsyano] bubble. ‘Dun nagsimula ‘yung idea to come up with this line, the bag line.
“So nagpa-customize ako ng bags and pinalagyan ko ng initials ko, SGM, just to make sure na walang mawawala, wala akong ma-misplace because during that time bawal pa ‘yung sobrang daming tao to be inside the bubble with the new work protocols,” she said.
She then thought of making it a business saying, “Gawin na lang kaya nating busniess ‘to. Pagkakitaan na lang natin ‘to kung meron mang bibili. That’s where it all started.”
Her business was previously a bag line business but improved on being a lifestyle business.
