Kapuso actress LJ Reyes has been with GMA Network for almost 17 years. And now that she has renewed her contract with the Network, some may have wondered why she chose to remain a Kapuso?
In an interview during her contract renewal with GMA Network, Reyes revealed she has no reason to leave the Network.
“Parang wala namang atang reason kasi parang tinatanong ako, “bakit ka hindi lumilipat or why are you staying?” Because wala naman akong reason to leave. Parang ganon sa akin.”
She also highlighted the support she received from the Network throughout her career.
“They’re very supportive. It meant a lot for me as an individual and as a person. Hindi naman ako maggo-grow in my craft if I don’t grow as an individual and as a person.”
According to Reyes, the Network helped her mature and shaped her into the person she is now.
“Ang laki-laki ng minature ko with GMA and doon naman talaga ako proud na hindi lang ako basta artista. I am LJ as a person. And they helped shape LJ.”
On the other hand, she admitted that she wanted to work with artists from other networks. Thankfully, independent films allow her to do so.
“Pero at a certain point, gusto mo na magkaroon ng chance para makatrabaho ‘yung iba pang tao. Pero, you know nagkaroon ng time nga, eh. Since nag-blossom na rin ang independent films ng venue for us to work together.”
Reyes began her journey with GMA Network in 2004 during her stint in Starstruck. From then on, she became a Kapuso throughout her showbiz career.
She worked in various Kapuso projects such as The Cure, Sherlock Jr. Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa, and Poor Señorita. Aside from her projects with the network, she also received a Gawad Urian Best Actress Award for Anino Sa Likod ng Buwan in 2016.
