The Other Wife Director Prime Cruz said that the South Korean movie Parasite inspired his psychological thriller under Viva Films.
During the media conference for the Other Wife, Cruz said he was impressed with how Parasite “switched its gears” when it comes to mixing genres.
“‘Yung plan ko talaga for the movie eh ano, sobra kasi akong na-impress sa Parasite.
Tapos bigla s’yang naging absurd sa dulo. Sobrang three gear shift s’ya so parang astigan ako doon so sabi ko parang gusto ko rin gumawa ng ganon.”
Cruz then shared how he mixed the typical Filipino Mistress-themed movie with a psychological thriller.
“Nag-start out kasi s’ya na parang ‘yung Philippine Mistress genre, which I think is a genre in itself.
Parasite (2019), a South Korean black comedy thriller film directed and co-written by Bong Joon-ho, made history in 2020 by winning four Academy Awards categories for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best International Feature Film, and Best Director.
As for the success of The Other Wife, Cruz said he’s happy with the feedback he was receiving for the movie as it reached the number one spot in Vivamax.
The Other Wife, directed by Prime Cruz stars Lovi Poe, Joem Bascon, and Rhen Escaño. It is currently available for streaming on Vivamax.
