Kapuso actor David Licauco is over the moon after GMA Network kept him as one of their artists.
The actor signed his contract on Wednesday, July 7.
In the actor’s media conference, Licauco was grateful to the Network after being given another opportunity to showcase his craft.
“S’yempre, I’m very grateful to GMA. I mean ‘yung pagiging artista kasi, this has been the dream of mine way back. So just given this opportunity, tsaka yung nag-renewal ako this year, at knowing na madaming hindi na kinuha, wala lang, sobrang happy lang,” said Licauco.
To show his gratitude, the actor promised the Kapuso Network that he’ll continue improving his craft.
“And dahil do’n, gusto kong bigyan ng sukli yung trust na binigay nila sa’kin. So sa mga next projects ko, mas gagalingan ko pa, mas iwo-work on ko pa ang sarili ko with regards sa acting,” he promised.
Licauco also took the time to express his happiness with LionhearTV for featuring him in numerous articles.
“Salamat din pala sa mga post niyo, na-appreciate ko ‘yun,” thanked the actor.
Indeed, not everyone was as lucky as the actor, which he knew. When asked if he was worried that he might not get the chance to be a Kapuso, Licauco answered that he was “not thinking much about it.”
“Hindi naman ako kinabahan. Hindi rin ako nag-expect. Kumbaga, kung tingin ng Network eh okay pa ako, if they still see a future with me, eh di I’ll accept that, sobrang magiging happy ako. Pero kung hindi, masa-sad ako but then I have to accept it.”
In the meantime, Licauco has not revealed any upcoming projects for now. But he is hopeful that he gets to do something this year.
“As of right now, I haven’t spoken to my managers. So I do not know yet. Pero hopefully meron this year. Kasi nakaka-miss umarte,” he revealed.
Although the actor did say he misses acting, Licauco is still not prepared to do sexy roles. However, if GMA Network thinks he is ready, the Kapuso actor is open to such a project. Still, the actor would like to “maximize his youth” by doing roles that are not too revealing nor too intimate.
“Wala naman akong restrictions as long as my managers would see na okay ‘yon for my career. I mean yung GMA Network eh tingin nila na okay for me kasi tiwala naman ako sa kanila, I would do it.
“Pero right now sana, I would like to maximize my youth on medyo pa-cute muna ng kaunti. Siguro in a few years baka p’wede na akong magpa-sexy. Pakita na natin ang lahat. Joke lang!” answered Licauco.
Licauco became the Kapuso Network’s “Chinito Heartthrob” back in 2017. But before earning such monicker, the actor already had done acting jobs for GMA Network and already had a movie appearance in 2014.
After he earned his title, he went on to do numerous teleseryes, including a stint in the 2018 Kapuso fanta-serye Mulawin vs. Ravena as Malik.
In 2019, he landed his first movie lead when he was chosen to play Rael Tansinco in Because I Love You.
Recently, his latest teleserye, Heartful Café, fared great in ratings. The series has already reached its conclusion, but Licauco hopes that there would be a book 2 of the show.
