GMA Network’s latest addition to its Kapuso family is Bea Alonzo.
The actress transferred to the network on July 1, after months of speculations about moving to the said Network.
Let’s look back at Bea Alonzo’s transition to becoming a Kapuso.
Prior to her transfer to the Kapuso Network, the 33-year-old actress stayed with ABS-CBN for about two decades before deciding to leave.
She was supposed to star in a series with Richard Gutierrez, but it got canceled.
The series titled Kahit Minsan Lang (Iron Heart, working title) already started its taping before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic but ABS-CBN entertainment production unit, Star Creatives, said that the series would not push through because it “cannot be accommodated at present because of the restrictive scenarios of shooting.”
She left ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic, in November 2020.
Her contract with Star Magic ended in October 2020, and the actress did not renew her contract anymore.
She then became a freelance artist, with her new talent manager being Shirley Kuan.
Alonzo admitted that before she decided to leave Star Magic, she first asked for permission from her ABS-CBN bosses.
On November 26, 2020, ABS-CBN released an official statement confirming that Bea is no longer part of Star Magic.
In March 2021, rumors about Alonzo’s transfer to the GMA Network then spread when the network announced that the actress is set to do a movie project with Kapuso actor Alden Richards under the three biggest movie outfits in the country.
The film titled A Moment to Remember will be co-produced by GMA Pictures, Viva Films, and APT Entertainment. It is a Philippine adaptation of the 2001 Japanese drama Pure Soul.
Even though there are already speculations of her transfer to the GMA Network, Alonzo’s camp has previously denied these rumors.
However, the GMA Network board of director Annette Gozon-Valdes admitted in June 2021 that they are in talks with Alonzo for her network transfer.
Gozon-Valdes said that the Kapuso Network would gladly welcome the actress since she currently has no contractual obligations with other networks.
On July 1, the GMA Network officially announced that Alonzo signed a contract with the network.
With her new network, Bea Alonzo fans are excited for the upcoming projects of the actress.
Since Alonzo’s long-time love team partner John Lloyd Cruz is in talks of signing a contract with the GMA Network as well, will the two be reunited in a Kapuso film?
