Actress Bea Alonzo recalled her emotional goodbye with ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak.
In the media conference for her contract signing with GMA Network, Alonzo revealed that she asked for Katigbak’s blessing before her transfer to the Kapuso network.
“Definitely! In fact, when the deal was 99% final, it was the first time that I met them via zoom, my new bosses. The next day, I called my boss before in ABS, who was sir Carlo and I asked for his blessing.”
She admitted that her goodbye was an emotional conversation.
“S’yempre, it was a very emotional call. It was a very emotional phone call. Di mo mai-aalis that 20 years of my life I spent there. I mean being with them.”
After their conversation, Alonzo said that Katigbak gave his blessing and wished her well.
“You know what, he wished me well, and he wished me good luck. Kasi gan’on naman talaga hindi ba, life must go on. And, I’m happy that I had his blessing before being here. And so, all is well.”
Aside from her emotional goodbye with Katigbak, she said she had mixed emotions of excitement and fears about the recent change in her life and career.
“Di ko po maipaliwanag. Halu-halo pong kaba, saya, and excitement tapos s’yempre, this is all new to me. So, hindi po maiiwasang kabahan, kasi change is really scary. But I realized, that change can also be beautiful. So today, parang ine-embrace ko ‘yan. Change in my life, and growth, and learning.”
Alonzo started out her career with ABS-CBN in 2002. She then became one of the most sought-after actresses of her generation with her iconic roles in One More Chance (2007), The Mistress (2012), Four Sisters and a Wedding (2013), A Second Chance (2015), and Unbreakable (2019).
