Comedian Bayani Agbayani shared his thoughts on the rival noontime shows of Lunch Out Loud (LOL), such as Kapuso’s Eat Bulaga and Kapamilya’s It’s Showtime.
LOL is a variety show broadcast by TV5 where Agbayani is a regular host.
In a one-on-one interview with Aiko Melendez, Agbayani said that he is thankful to have a job amid the pandemic.
The comedian is not nervous about being on the same timeslot with Eat Bulaga, and It’s Showtime that has been airing for many years now.
“Sila bossing (Vic Sotto) matagal ko na man silang kilala. Nasa 50 years na siguro sila at ‘yung showtime naman nasa more than 10 years na,” said Agbayani.
Eat Bulaga has been airing for more than 40 years now while, It’s Showtime has started more than ten years ago.
Agbayani said that as an artist, he simply wanted to work and earn money, especially in these trying times amid the pandemic.
“Alam mo na man tayong mga artista, lalo na ngayong pandemic, magkaroon lang ng trabaho ang kapwa natin masaya na tayo.
“Marami pong walang trabaho ngayon hindi lang po mga artista. Maraming mga magagaling na artista na walang trabaho.
“‘Yung magkaroon [ako] ng trabaho, maraming salamat talaga sa Panginoon,” he said.
Agbayani was with ABS-CBN for more than 15 years before transferring to other networks. He is currently with the TV5 network.
He noted that even though he is in the other network now, he is still friends with both groups of hosts from GMA and ABS-CBN.
“Talagang mga kaibigan ko ‘yung mga tao na ‘yun lalo na sila Vice. Nagtrabaho din ako sa [It’s Showtime] and until now ka-text ko pa rin sila Tita Cory, nagkakamustahan pa rin kame. Hindi ako nag bu-burn ng bridges,” he said.
When asked about the pressure, he felt like one of the hosts in LOL, Agbayani shared that he does not feel any as they all treat each other equally.
“Ang maganda sa show namin is wala kameng bida. Pantay-pantay kame.
“‘Wag tayong magkakainggitan, ‘wag tayong mahihilaan, kailangan magkaroon tayo ng role playing. Kahit anong mangyari, kung sino man ang mag e-excel, mag e-excel.”
“Ang enteblado, para sa lahat ng hosts ‘yan, hindi para sa iisang tao lang,” he said.
Despite being new on the scene, Lunch Out Loud is getting good ratings for the past months, with the program overtaking ABS-CBN’s noontime show, It’s Showtime.
