It was not easy for the boy group ALAMAT after a member of their group left.
In the virtual press conference for their recently released single Kasmala on Friday, July 16, the former nine-member group admitted that they struggled to adjust.
Joshua Alvarez, known as Alas, had to make some necessary changes as he now delivers some of the lines that the former member used to do.
“Medyo mahirap kasi pinasa sa’min yung part na iba. So napakanta ako ng wala sa oras. Pero okay lang kasi masaya naman ako, chill lang,” he admitted.
But for Justin Paolo Canlas, known as Jao, it was not hard to adapt to their new formation.
“Adjustments weren’t that super hard like when it comes to songs, dinistribute lang. Yung lines, kung sino ang kukuha nito ganyan,” he said.
However, when it comes to dancing, it became a problem for them. Due to their number being an even number, ALAMAT’s formation became difficult as they try to find the right formation for them.
“When it comes to dance, medyo—because you know, eight na kami ngayon, it’s different from—kasi nine is an odd number. So we decide kung sino ang iba-block, uneven talaga pag even number. Mahirap hanapin kung ano ang tamang formation for the center,” he added.
Meanwhile, Aaron Joshua Mitchell or Mo revealed why the member left: a change of priorities.
“Dun sa umalis, nag-change siya ng priority,” he revealed.
Nevertheless, Mo stressed that those members who got the remaining lines deserve to be given a chance to stand out.
“Tsaka kung kanino pinasa yung mga lines na ‘yun, sila ang deserving para do’n,” he added.
Back on March 30, a member of their group left. It was announced that Kin left the group after a few months of being launched as a boyband.
Despite Kin’s departure from the group, ALAMAT persevered.
Brylle Jordan Uyam or Taneo said that the group developed a brotherly relationship amid their struggles and hardships. Though there were times that they get into fights, they still show and care for each other like a family.
“After one year of training, we’ve developed a lot of bondings. Because we went through hardships together. Of course, there are some arguments and all. But at the end of the day, we are still brothers and we love each other.”
Jao even said, “We share everything with each other. Our knowledge, our wisdom, it’s like a second family.”
ALAMAT is an idol group that has a unique way of making music. The eight-member group of Viva Artists Agency sings in several local languages and comprises Taneo, Mo, Tomas, R-ji, Valfer, Alas, Gami, and Jao.
Their latest single, Kasmala, tackles Asian hate. It premiered on July 15, and as of this writing, it already reached 130,387 views on YouTube.
