ABS-CBN employees, celebs react to Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s lies about the network during his last SONA

ABS-CBN employees and celebrities reacted to President Rodrigo Duterte’s lies about their Network on his last State of the Nation Address.

During his SONA, President Duterte claimed that ABS-CBN cheated the government “by the billions in taxes.” However, the Bureau of Internal Revenue already clarified that the media giant does not have any pending tax case.

He also added allegations against the network, claiming that they published a story about his daughter, Mayor Sarah Duterte being a drug trafficker.

“Wala akong problema sa ABS-CBN. They want to return my money when the case blew up, but they printed all garbage, including my daughter as a drug trafficker. Nilamon ko na lang lahat ‘yun, because I never wanted to appear vindictive.”

However, ABS-CBN did not publish an article claiming Mayor Sarah Duterte as a drug trafficker.

As a result, Kapamilya employees and celebrities reacted to his allegations.+

Kapamilya’s such Jeff Canoy, Ces Oreña-Drilon, Jacque Manabat, Ogie Diaz, and many others fact-checked Pres. Duterte’s claims, especially with tax evasion case.

Barnaby Lo also questioned Pres. Duterte’s claim that ABS-CBN wrote a piece about his daughter being a drug trafficker.

MJ Felipe and other Kapamilyas called out Pres. Duterte for being vindictive and falsely accusing the Network during his SONA.

It has been a year after Congress denied ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. To this day, none of the alleged infringements against the Network has been proven true. The Government branches involved in the hearing (BIR, DOLE, SEC, etc.) all agreed that the Network didn’t commit any violation.
