As part of Pride Month, actor Yves Flores, who has accepted BL roles, shared how he dealt with haters who question his sexuality.
Kasi ikaw lang makakapagsabi niyan in your own pace and time eh,” the actor answered in an exclusive interview with LionhearTV.
And when it comes to doing BL roles, Flores admitted that there was nothing wrong with having straight actors portray gay roles. However, the actor knew that only queer artists can understand the struggles of the members of the LGBTQIA+ community, making it easier for them to channel those emotions into acting.
“Ang paniniwala ko dyan is that allies are welcomed to play these roles as long as nagagawa siya ng tama.
Still, the actor could not deny the fact that the BL genre is struggling in this industry since people are pushing to be idealistic in shows and films.
In the meantime, Flores is starring in a BL series titled, “Stuck On You”. It tells the story of how a hookup can lead to love.
However, the actor does not believe that flings would lead to friendships.
When it comes to manifesting his character, Flores stressed that it was not him who was acting, but his character.
“As an actor naman, hindi naman si Yves ang gumanap sa series na yun eh. Ako si JM, ako yung karakter, simple as that.”
An actor with experience in such a kind of role, Flores advised his colleagues to always dig deep in their hearts to bring their respective characters to life.
Kasi from script sinulat lang yan eh.
“Stuck On You” is a BL series starring Yves Flores and Iyo Canlas. Catch its new episodes every Friday on Ride or Die’s YouTube channel.
