Netflix’s Dead Kids star Vance Larena is now officially part of ABS-CBN, making his dream come true.
Larena signed his contract with the Kapamilya Network during Star Magic‘s Black Pen Day, on Saturday, June 19.
In an exclusive interview with LionhearTV, on Monday, June 21, Larena revealed that it was his movie Bakwit Boys that made the Network notice his untapped potential to be a star.
“After kong mag-teatro, nagkaron tayo ng unang dalawang pelikula, ‘yung Bar Boys at Bakwit Boys. Parte ‘yun ng Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
“After talaga ng Bakwit Boys–sabihin na natin na ‘dun ako na-discover ng ABS at naimbitahan na lumabas sa TV for the first time for, Ipaglaban Mo! Tapos nagtuluy-tuloy na yun, at nagsimula na ang pagpasok ko sa showbiz.”
His decision was always influenced by his desire to be a Kapamilya.
Larena, before signing a contract with ABS-CBN auditioned to Star Magic countless times. Unfortunately, he was not accepted.
“I’ve always wanted to be a part of Star Magic talaga. Actually, ilang beses din ako nag-audition sa Star Magic. Pero hindi ako natanggap,” admitted the actor.
However, it did not bother him.
The failure served as his inspiration, realizing that it was not yet his time to enter showbiz. When it was the Network itself who approached and invited him, that is when the actor knew that it is time to show the whole world what he is capable of.
“Siguro dahil musmos pa lang ako noon. At kailangan nating pagdaanan lahat nang pinagdaanan natin para maabot ang pangarap natin.
“Ngayon, n’ung may kumontak na nag-iimbita para maging parte ng Star Magic, syempre ginrab na natin ang opportunity. Dahil oras at universe na ang gumawa ng paraan para makapasok tayo dito,” he said.
Before signing the contract, He had a stint in ABS-CBN’s action-drama series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano where he played Ivan, the best friend of Lia (Jane De Leon). He also has two singles–Tama and Panghabang-Baby.
The actor will also be part of an upcoming TV series under ABS-CBN called, Viral and is produced by RCD Narratives. It stars Joshua Garcia, Jake Cuenca, Charlie Dizon, and Dimples Romana.
