Popular vlogger and former PBB Big Winner Slater Young made a clarification about his social media reaction to the news about the Duterte-Duterte tandem in 2022.
In a tweet, Slater explained that his “like” reaction to an ABS-CBN News Instagram post about the legality of a Duterte-Duterte tandem is not intentional saying he just accidentally tapped like on it.
“Yung tipong may haters ka bigla eh napindot lang po. Sensya na.”

While not too politically inclined, Slater has also made some critical comments about the government’s incompetence in addressing the pandemic.
In a couple of tweets last year, Slater scored the government for romanticizing Filipino resiliency.
In his tweet, Slater asked to stop glorifying our people’s resilience saying “Nobody wants to have to be resilient”.
Can we please stop glorifying Filipino resilience? The most “resilient“ among us have it the hardest. Nobody wants to have to be resilient. Let’s stop romanticizing it.

This came after Malacanang mouthpiece Harry Roque said that he was very delighted because the unemployment rate in the country was ‘only’ at 45%.
“Ako po’y nagagalak na hindi tayo 100% nawalan ng trabaho kasi sa tagal po na nakalockdown tayo, I’m still surprised at our resilience, at 45 % pa lang po ang nawawalan ng trabaho. It could have been worse kasi nga po complete lockdown ang nangyayari sa atin.”
Roque’s comment then prompted Slater to post a follow-up tweet directly hitting Roque’s insensitive statement.
45% pa lang? It could be worse
Oh 60% na? It could be worse
80%??? It could still be worse
“It could be worse” is an excuse
“It could be better” is being accountable

Meanwhile, this was not the first time that Slater owned up to his mistake in social media.
At the height of the pandemic lockdown in 2020, Slater had to deactivate his Twitter account and post an apology on his Instagram account after his insensitive comment comparing the lockdown to his time at the PBB house.
According to Slater, he’s sorry for impulsively posting without understanding the real situation and hardships of many Filipinos brought about by the pandemic.
