Former Kapamilya star Richard Yap is glad to have his former colleagues in ABS-CBN join him on GMA Network.
“I’m happy na they are finding work here and they are being given the chance to work with us dito sa Kapuso channel,” said the actor during a virtual press conference for the Network’s Father’s Day special.
He understood the situation of ABS-CBN, which is currently without a franchise, which forced most of Kapamilya talents to look for work in other networks.
“I think because of the situation na nangyari, hindi talaga natin maiwasan na maraming lilipat dito sa Kapuso Network.”
Meanwhile, Yap is excited to have returning showbiz actor John Lloyd Cruz as part of GMA Network. The actor expressed his eagerness to work with Cruz as a Kapuso.
“Of course si Lloydie. We have worked together before… And that’s very exciting not only for me but also to the people who want to work with him.”
In 2016, Yap worked with the former Kapamilya box-office hit actor in the movie, Just the Three of Us along with Jennylyn Mercado. It was directed by esteemed director, Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Cruz is currently with Willie Revillame’s production company, WBR Productions. He is set to do a sitcom with Kapuso star Andrea Torres.
Apart from Cruz, Beauty Gonzalez and Pokwang also made the switch after spending some time on TV5. Both actresses have upcoming projects on the Kapuso channel.
In the meantime, Yap will have an upcoming teleserye titled, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon with Kapuso star Heart Evangelista. They will start taping this coming July and currently, the cast members are starting their home quarantine to prepare for the locked-in taping next month.
On December 16, 2020, Yap transferred to the Kapuso network after ABS-CBN shut down. He signed a contract with GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) and is a Kapuso for six months.
