The stage is set for the fast-rising octet, BINi to conquer the global arena with their distinctive P-Pop sound that embodies their idea of the modern Filipina.
The conception of one of today’s most promising all-female P-Pop acts, BINi, came from an utterly inspired vision–that young Filipino women are sweet, fierce, independent, and informed. This dream paved the way for a bold and talented group of modern Filipinas to emerge and take their deserved spot in the local music scene.
BINi’s perfect moment is not accidental nor a mere result of an emergency meeting whose primary intent is to create a group to hop on the blazing P-Pop bandwagon. Its members, Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Jhoana, Maloi, Mikha, and Sheena had to go through years of relentless musical and dance training before getting formally launched this June.
You can say it’s a fruit of a long-endured struggle to become the best versions of themselves. With BINi, they are now more than ready to face the world and become among OPM’s standard-bearers in its quest to establish P-Pop as an emerging global trend.
Like the Star Hunt Academy colleagues–the all-male P-Pop group, BGYO, BINi’s training goes back to as early as 2018. Its eight members got selected from the Kapamilya talent search. The rookie group first released their pre-debut single, Da Coconut Nut, in November 2020 with viral success.
A modern re-imagining of the classic Ryan Cayabyab novelty of the same name, the single is a glimpse of how distinct the group is–the bubblegum and teen pop identity–a simple facade of the act seemingly diverse style.
As a challenge, the group has to assume and bring out new flavors to stake their claim to be unique and diverse.
Born to Win, their official debut single–carries that vision to become extra-ordinary, mature, and adaptive to changes.
The core messages of the track narrate such vision, allowing the group to impart a resonant reminder for today’s young women. It is also a screaming testament to their collective goal to fulfill their destiny to become the modern Filipino women they envisioned.
Born to Win marks the group’s groundbreaking take-off as they further soar to conquer more impressive milestones. Oozing with electropop elements–it feels to be an utterly appropriate anthem to push the group’s electrifying surge towards stardom.
Like in most idol groups’ case, a crucial ingredient in BINi’s triumph in the entertainment scene is its growing legion of fans, who called themselves ‘Blooms’.
Blooms are expected to be a key factor to the idol group’s potent alchemy, which has been enabling them to attract more active supporters. Another fundamental component to any artist’s continued success is that it understands the importance of blending music and fashion.
The group’s perspective on this matter is perfectly conveyed in Born to Win, where much of the sophistication came from the group’s showcase of the modern and futuristic Filipina woman. Like BGYO and other fast-rising P-Pop acts, BINi never forgets to pay homage to its Philippine roots, especially in the context of fashion. This intrinsic sensitivity should only get the group to a much better position to serve as among the country’s flag bearers in introducing P-Pop to the world.
With nearly 600,000 views and 100,000 streams on Youtube and Spotify, respectively, Born to Win, is poised to become among the most viewed and streamed debut singles by the P-Pop group. And as this is just their debut single, better developments can be expected to take place, with subsequent single releases.
This streak of early feats the group is making leads to the question: ‘Is BINi fully equipped to lead the local idols’ charge to make a mark in the global music scene?’ What exactly should the right P-POP act look and sound like for this emerging brand to conquer the world charts? Could BINi be the first one to establish a strong Filipino presence in the Western music scene?
The chance is there for the taking, and BINi has all the time in the world to stake its claim. But it would need an equally strong following–a more aggressive promotional campaign, and a more aggressive Bloom, that is.
That said, BINi needs to understand that their launch is already a winning moment, that only serves as a mighty take-off towards bigger victories. To echo the words of their empowering debut track, the only thing they must remember now is that ‘there’s nothing they can’t do… in every step they take and every boundary they break’.
The next milepost in their still-young career will be just one vivid proof of their blooming maturity.
