La Vida Lena Directors Jerry Lopez-Sineneng and Jojo Saguin shared their opinions on what changed in Pinoy audiences because of streaming content.
In the media conference for La Vida Lena, Direk Jerry said that Pinoy audiences are more impatient now.
“Nagiging mas iksi ‘yung pasenya ng Filipino audience. Ma-inipin. nagiging mas ma-inipin. They want more. They want things happening. I’ve been directing for the longest time, kung iko-compare mo ‘yan five years ago, iba, iba talaga. Iba ang gusto ng audience ng time na ‘yon.
“I think magandang sign din yun. Ibig sabihin, talagang nag-iimprove ang panlasa ng nating lahat. Bilang ako’y isa ding audience ng streaming platforms at ng Filipino shows.

“Pero, ang challenge naman ay sa mga gumagawa. Bilang director, ‘yung mga writers, ‘yung mga artista. Even sa acting, mas-ano na ‘yung panlasa ng Filipino audience ngayon. Di na sila okay sa pa-cute lang na artista. They want lalim–they want substance. Kaya kaming mga behind the scenes, gumagawa ng pelikula, ng teleserye, we’re always on our toes. Kasi hindi kami pwedeng magpabaya.”
As for Direk Jojo, she said that his thoughts, “Ang attention span kasi ng audience is very, short. Kailangan ma-hook sila within five to ten minutes of that show. So we really have to keep up doon sa show na ginagawa namin.
“Nasa content lang talaga and I believe na ‘tong show na ‘to ay ganon. Kasi, medyo fast pacing kami so mahu-hook yung tao.”
Alongside Direk Jerry and Direk Jojo is Director, Andoy Ranay is also helming the new revenge-serye La Vida Lena.
