Is this time that Kapuso talents be worried that ABS-CBN stars are taking over GMA Network?
Ever since the shut down of ABS-CBN back in 2020, several Kapamilya talents, including big stars, have decided to switch to other networks. Some transferred to TV5, while others, went to GMA Network.
With an exodus of great Kapamilya talents going to GMA Network last year, Butch Francisco, in an article, warned Kapuso talents that they may be outshined by these ABS-CBN greats.
“The GMA talents should really be wary of the ABS-CBN invaders. The Channel 2 people are familiar with the showbiz game and know how to play it. The Kapamilya stars are worldly-wise – compared to the basically naive GMA artists. The ABS-CBN leading ladies will surely be running circles around them.”
Francisco’s warning finally came true as former Kapamilya stars continue to invade the Kapuso Network.
Kapamilya star Beauty Gonzalez made the switch to GMA Network and already has an upcoming project; John Lloyd Cruz, who inked a contract with Willie Revillame’s production firm has an upcoming sitcom with Kapuso actress Andrea Torres and; comedienne Pokwang has a show already in the network.
These are just a few of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars. But there is already a rumor that Bea Alonzo, Ejay Falcon, and many more will follow them to GMA Network.
The concern that Kapuso artists will have no projects because of these newcomers are heightened, with some feeling that they may lose their spot in the Network.
However, Kapuso stars should not fret. Despite Kapamilya talents invading GMA Network, the Network assured its homegrown artists that they will not be left behind. In fact, it promised that its top priority is still Kapuso talents. While stars from ABS-CBN get to have their own show, Kapuso celebrities also have projects in store for them.
For instance, the #Flex is a show where the Kapuso Network highlights its teen stars. Furthermore, GMA Network also ensures that its own talents, not from any network, would first land roles in upcoming projects.
Moreover, GMA Network is also preparing to offer youth-oriented programs featuring its own teen stars. The Network is also finding ways to boost its own talents’ presence, both in media and online.
Aside from this, GMA Artist Center conducted a webinar for its homegrown talents, helping them improve their social media content.
Also, the audience should expect that more Kapuso loveteams will be formed soon, with the network introducing newly-discovered artists.
With GMA Network trying to balance things out, Kapuso talents should not be worried at all, knowing that their network also cares about them.
