Locally grown fresh and organic fruits and vegetables, and delicious takeout meals from members of RestoPH, are back at SM Supermalls’ Farmers’ Produce this June and July, returning to The Podium on June 10 to 12, July 1-3, and July 8-10
Farmers’ Produce is a joint project of SM Supermalls, the Department of Agriculture (DA), and Resto PH, an association of restaurants in the Philippines. The purveyors at The Podium include Queen B Apiaries, Jamla Corporation, Cada Farmers, Root Crops Growers of Batangas, Vikings Gourmet Bottles, HDRD Tsuiteru Food Bar (Don Dairy), Gourmet Farms, CocoPlus Aquarian, Coffee Estate, Pizza Express, Hanamaruken, OK Café by Chef Laudico, Lick the Spoon Gourmet Foods, Moloko Handcrafted Cookies, Recovery Food, Scout’s Honor & Poison Doughnuts, and Oh My Greek!
Something to look out for are various establishments offering sumptuous meals made from local farmers’ products, creating a delectable farm-to-table experience.
This year’s launch was graced by the DA assistant secretary for agribusiness Kristine Evangelista, SM Supermalls president Steven Tan, and Resto PH president Eric Teng.
“We are excited to once again welcome everyone to Farmers’ Produce at SM. This project has helped, not only our farmers, but also MSMEs and restaurants in showcasing their products to customers in a safe venue,” said SM Supermalls president Steven Tan.
Evangelista said that the caravan is a “win-win” as mallgoers get the chance to shop for affordable produce and products.
“When we bring our farmers here, institutional buyers and restaurant owners finally get to know them ─ they are now within their radar. Hopefully they can supply to restaurants as institutional partners in the long run,” Evangelista said.
Pacita Yap, co-owner of Cada Farmers, agreed that Farmers’ Produce has been a big help to them in selling their vegetables.
“Malaking tulong din itong SM kasi dito sa SM wala kaming upa at sila yung nag-proprovide ng mga gamit namin. Ina-advertise pa kaya siguradong dumarating ang customers.”
Eric Teng, president of Resto PH, said that he is grateful to SM Supermalls for offering a space for farmers to sell their produce, after restaurants closed down during the pandemic.
“SM was very nice to offer their space for the farmers to highlight or showcase their produce. It’s a direct farm-to-market concept. So, a good location, a restaurant group, and the farmers ─ we make a good team. That’s been successful since last year,” he said.
Drop by Farmers’ Produce at SM this June and July and get your fill of affordable healthy food and fresh local products. There’s nothing like achieving optimal health amidst the pandemic, and helping our local farmers, MSMEs, and partner restaurants in a big way too.
The caravan will also head to SM Aura Premier on June 18-20, June 25-27, July 16-18, and July 23-25 and continue at The Podium on July 1-3, and July 8-10.
