John Lloyd Cruz is one of the biggest Kapamilya stars during his time. However, now he is working under the GMA Network as he was welcomed recently. Was it his personal decision to leave ABS-CBN or the latter chose to let go of the actor?
After years of hiatus from showbiz, John Lloyd returns to TV via Shopee 6.6 Mid-Year Sale TV Special on June 6, Sunday. In the same event, GMA Network welcomed back the award-winning actor.
In the June 18 episode of Ogie Diaz’s YouTube show ‘Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update’ the talent manager and his co-host, Mama Loi talked about the comeback of Cruz.
Mama Loi pointed out that his comeback was just a sort of an ‘intrusion’, against what is expected by the fans.
As fans felt hanging for Cruz’s comeback, Ogie sees this as a sign that the actor is still in the business, “Kung nabitin ka, you are craving for more. Meron pang ganon si John Lloyd, may asim pa.”
Mama Loi then brings up the network transfer of John Lloyd and asked Ogie about GMA Network’s offer to his talent Liza Soberano.
Ogie then said that they were discouraged by ABS-CBN to leave the network, but even before that they already made a decision to stay.
“Pinigilan kame.
He then assured them that they will only leave ABS-CBN when the network is completely devasted and if the management itself pushed them to do so.
Ogie also said that he felt how ABS-CBN values Liza as network executive Cory Vidanes personally reached out to him, reminding him how the network wants Liza to stay.
“So ni-let go nga, ‘di pinigilan?” Mama Loi quipped.
Regarding John Lloyd’s network shift, it was Willie Revillame who talked to Carlo Katigbak.
(For your information, with respect to ABS-CBN – where I also came from – I actually asked for Mr. Carlo Katigbak’s consent to have John Lloyd here),” Willie clarified.
Katigbak then understands that their artists need to earn a living for their families so, he let them decide if they wish to transfer to another network since ABS-CBN has nothing to offer.
Katigbak then entrusted John Lloyd to Willie, “Sige, bahala ka muna kay John Lloyd.”
John Lloyd previously signed with Crown Artist Management, the management firm owned by Maja Salvador and her boyfriend Rambo Nuñez.
It was recently revealed that the actor will be working with two shows under GMA Network which are expected to air in the last quarter of the year.
