Stage 4 cancer survivor and Cornerstone artist, Zion Aquino has passed away yesterday, Thursday, May 20.
Zion was a stage 4 colon cancer survivor who continued pursuing his passion for music despite his medical condition. He fought cancer thrice and became a multi-awarded singer-songwriter.
His untimely passing was announced by Cornerstone Entertainment through their Facebook page.
His colleagues in Cornerstone also expressed their grief to the fallen music maverick.
Yeng Constantino expressed her sympathy to Zion via her social media accounts.

Singer Sam Mangubat also grieved in the passing of Aquino.
“Nakakalungkot na balita. Hindi mo inalintana ang unos ng buhay at lumaban ka ng mahabang panahon handog ang buhay mo para sa Diyos at kapwa mo gamit ang iyong musika. Magpapahinga ka na kasama ang ating Panginoon. Salamat sa lahat, Zion Aquino,” wrote Sam in his Facebook.
Rock band Dawn’s guitarist, Francis Reyes also expressed his condolences to Zion and was thankful to have ever met him.
Musician Carlo Yanesa could not believe that a person such as Zion has already passed away.

Songwriter Garth Garcia who is a friend of Zion knew that the singer “fought a good fight” and can now “rest easy”.

Moira Dela Torre, also a Cornerstone artist, extended her condolences to Zion and his family. She tried to lighten the mood by telling Zion to greet her grandmother who is also in heaven.
Zion back in 2017 has been nominated in five categories at the prestigious Philippine Awit Awards: best performance by a new male artist (for “Defenseless”), best performance by a male artist (for “Brave For You”), best ballad recording (for “Ever My Only Love”), best R&B recording (for “Really Over You”), and best inspirational recording (for “So Grateful”).
In 2016, he produced an album titled, “Grateful Soul” together with award-winning songwriter, Trina Belamide.
