Megastar Sharon Cuneta is still hoping for the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise as she asked for prayers and the support of the public.
On Sunday, May 23 episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar, where she is one of the judges, the singer-actress asked to bring back the franchise of ABS-CBN as the Network brings hope and joy to the people amid the pandemic.
“Mga Kapamilya, sabay sabay nating ipagdasal na sana ibalik na ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN. Kasi po, marami man ang feeling nila nadehado sila, my heart goes out to you, pero ang dami po sa amin na umaasa sa istasyon na ito,” the 55-year-old wife of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan said.
She then begged for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal, the network should not be denied to have it.
“Sana po, huwag ninyo po kaming pagdamutan dahil pinagbubuti po naman po ng buong istasyon namin na bigyan kayo ng mga serye, magandang quality ng mga programa namin at mga show na katulad nito na nagbibigay ng ligaya lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya. Para ninyo na pong awa, ibalik ninyo na ang prangkisa namin.”
To recall, ABS-CBN’s application for a franchise renewal was denied by the House Committee on Legislative Franchises on July 10, 2020.
However, ABS-CBN is slowly getting back to its feet as several partnerships and collaborations with other companies like A2Z channel and TV5 open its doors to the Kapamilya network.
This was not the first time that Cuneta has asked for the franchise of ABS-CBN as she previously pleaded with President Duterte to reconsider ABS-CBN’s franchise.
“I pray that our dear President reconsiders his decision about ABS-CBN. Not just because I just renewed, I can always find a job. But everybody I grew up with here who have remained loyal to the station, and have grown up here, have learned from the school of hard knocks here, have become family, good friends –will lose almost everything they’ve built over the years.”
