Morissette shared what she learned from her family issue, the pandemic, and ABS-CBN Shutdown.
In the press conference for Morrissete’s version of Shine for its 25th year, the singer recounted the issues she encountered in 2019.
“Hindi ko din naman madeny lahat ng nangyari. Actually, that was back in 2019. Pero, it was also very timely kasi. Nangyari lahat nung 2019, and I was approaching my 10th year. “Sabi ko kailangan ko muna mag-break.”
She added that the issues she faced helped her get a reset as an artist and a person.
“So I think that really gave me the reset that I really need, not just for my voice, not just me as an artist, pero para din me as a personal person. Not just to think about other people, but I have to think about myself.”
As for the pandemic, Morissette recalled feeling anxiety and fear, especially with the ABS-CBN shutdown.
“I have had my share of anxiety and fear over the pandemic. Then even the ABS-CBN shutdown, so parang apektado lahat. Apektado po lahat.”
Morissette also shared what she learned this past couple of years, especially going back to the people who kept her grounded, like her fiancé.
“Pero, I just tried to really look at things on the other side. Parang hindi lang lahat ng negative ang nababasa. I’m also in touch with my brother and my Lola we also talk naman. I just go back to the people who keep me grounded. And of course my fiance also and all of my friends.”
In 2019, Morissette struggled with her family issue after her father ranted online, accusing the singer of leaving them for her then-boyfriend-now-fiancé, Dave Lamar.
Now, Morissette reimagines the iconic song Shine with Star Music, which came out this Friday, May 21. It is available through Spotify and Apple Music. The song’s music video is up for release this Sunday, May 30, on Morissette’s YouTube Channel with a TV launch in ASAP Natin To.
