Showcasing the Filipino life wouldn’t be complete without bringing up the fact that the Philippines has over 180 languages used all over the country, Linya-Linya is making sure to bring that awareness.
For the first time, Linya-Linya is releasing two shirt designs in the Bisaya language.
With the help of Cebuano friends, the local content page started releasing content in Bisaya and saw the potential to release a merch line as they received positive feedback from their audience.
“As a brand who’s proudly Filipino, it’s our duty to represent every Filipino! And to do that we recognized that we also have to create content and merch in languages other than Tagalog.” explained by Linya-Linya Creative Director Ali Sangalang.
The Regional design features Linyas Gugmalas and Palihug.
Gugmalas is a play on words gugma, the Bisaya translation for love, and malas, directly translated to bad luck– dedicated to Filipinos having struggles finding a lovelife.
Palihug, meanwhile, refers to “please” in Bisaya with emphasis on the word hug for those who have physical touch as their love language.
“We might be one country speaking different languages, but we all share the same experiences and sentiments,” adds Sangalang.
Linya-Linya believes that releasing more inclusive designs helps in their mission to always remain relatable through their content and merch.
Sangalang hinted for more Regional Linya Shirts in the future and promised that these special Linya-Linya designs certainly won’t be the last.
The new special regional Linya-Linya designs are available in all Linya-Linya stores – www.linyalinya.ph, Shopee, and Lazada starting May 3, 2021 for PHP 595 each.
