Jodi Sta. Maria will play the lead role of the Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster!
On Thursday, May 7, ABS-CBN officially revealed the cast of the upcoming PH version of BBC Studios’ original series Doctor Foster. ABS-CBN’s official title of adaptation is The Broken Marriage Vow.
When ABS-CBN announced last month that the network is producing the PH adaptation of the series, Netizens immediately tried to guess and pitch who they think is fit [actresses] to play the title role.
Actresses Judy Ann Santos, Jodi Sta. Maria, Iza Calzado, and Sunshine Dizon. Considering that the latter’s recent network shift is because of the title role.
Aside from Sta. Maria, Zaijan Jaranilla will play the role as the son named Gio Ilustre, Sue Ramirez was chosen to play Lexy Lucero, the other woman, and Zanjoe Marudo as David Ilustre the husband.
But now, it’s official that Jodi Sta. Maria will play ‘The Broken Marriage Vow’ in the award-winning drama.
Jodi will play as the reliable doctor whose life turned into misery when she felt that her husband was cheating on her.
Previous international actresses who played the same character included the original British actress Suranne Jones and South Korea’s Kim Hee-ae.
ABS-CBN’s production of this series makes the Philippines the 6th country that earned the right to reproduce Mike Bartlett’s original Doctor Foster story, following South Korea, France, Russia, Turkey, and India.
