Actress Janice de Belen compared Gerald Anderson to a ‘Bangus’ (Milkfish) for being ‘matinik’ (full of fishbone) when she got asked about her thoughts of the star of Init sa Magdamag on Maganda Buhay.
Matinik in Filipino can be referred to as clever, witty, or complicated. It depends on what context it is used.
In an interview, de Belen was in a game and had to compare pictures of handsome men to a certain food or dish. When Magandang Buhay hosts flashed Anderson’s face, she shyly chucked and said, “Si Gerald ay parang Bangus.”
She then immediately clarified why because she loves Bangus and it’s her favorite, but it’s ‘matinik.’
“Love ko ang Bangus. Favorite ko ang Bangus kaya lang matinik. Matinik kasi parang ang daming isyu.”
De Belen brought up an issue about her and Anderson before and used it as an example of how the actor is ‘matinik.’
“Like me, for example. Hindi ba na-link kami for a while, wala naman talagang ili-link. It’s just that for the longest time that we worked together at kahit na nung hindi kami nagwo-work together, he is really like a brother to me,” she stressed.
In 2015, rumors surfaced linking de Belen and Anderson.
He even apologized to de Belen after her name got dragged when his ex-girlfriend-actress Maja Salvador broke up.
The 52-year-old actress got blamed for the breakup of Anderson with Salvador.
De Belen pointed that the bond she and Anderson have is like that of a brother and a sister.
“Super brother ang tingin ko sa kanya. Brother, barkada, kasi napagkukuwentuhan namin ang kahit ano,” she shared.
Due to the said rumor, she admitted that the bond they had before, changed.
“Hindi naman destroyed ang friendship namin but our friendship has changed. And you know that thing is, ang hirap sa trabaho natin kasi kapag na-tsismis ka na, na-link ka ng ganyan, whether you like it or not, totoo o hindi, it destroys frienship.”
Currently, De Belen is one of the leading stars of La Vida Lena, which will return and be aired on television.
It was first aired on iWant TFC last year. La Vida Lena will air on A2Z Channel 11, TV5, and TFC. La Vida Lena can also watch it on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
