Kapuso singer Hannah Precillas in a virtual press conference for her upcoming EP (extended play record) on Monday, May 24, looks back to how she got the title, “OST Princess”.
Precillas claimed that the Kapuso show “Kambal, Karibal” gave her the break she needed.
The 2014 winner of the Kapuso singing competition, “Bet ng Bayan”, said that the teleserye’s official soundtrack, “Kanlungan” established her status as the OST (Official Soundtrack) Princess. Also, her single “Awit Kay Inay” became the OST of the 2018 series, “Onanay” and “Kung Walang Ikaw” for the 2019 “Hiram na Anak” which further proved her singing prowess.
“Kasi ang ganda nung teleserya na yun eh. So maraming tao ang nanuod, nakarelate, natuwa. So they started to be curious na rin kung sino ba tong kumakanta. So dun nagsimula na tinawag akong OST Princess kasi yun din yung time na nag-air yung Onanay and Hiram na Anak na ginamit yung first single ko.”
Though Precillas has a mini-album under her name, she has yet to unleash her full potential as a versatile singer.
“This one, I’m contented. But there is a part of Hannah na hindi pa nasho-showcase sa album na ‘to. Kasi yung iba alam na I dance din. So isa yun sa mga pangarap ko na makapag-release ng upbeat songs na danceable.”
However, the singer’s dream of making upbeat music is put on hiatus. The reason is that Precillas, being the OST Princess, has to stick to the genre she is known for.
“And I think better din siguro na nag-stick muna ako sa ganyan. Kasi dun ako tumatak sa iba eh, yung mga hugot songs. I think maganda din naman na andun muna ako sa genre na yun at unti-unti akong mag-switch into what I really want to do,” she added.
Nevertheless, Precillas being the OST Princess, after all, means that she can give more relatable songs to Kapuso listeners.
“But, still, I’m grateful at sa tingin ko make-cater ko yung mga pinagdadaanan ng mga tao, yung relatable songs na ibigay ko naman sa kanila,” Precillas said.
