ABS-CBN’s longest-running primetime series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is close to toppling its pre-shutdown AGB Nutam Ratings, as events in the series are poised to bring Cardo Dalisay’s most intense bout to decimate its rivals.
For the past few weeks, the Coco Martin-starrer has relentlessly broken its concurrent viewership records, online.
It has recently peaked on Kapamilya Online Live with more than 120,000 concurrent live viewers. It is poised to reach more impressive milestones in the next episodes, as Cardo Dalisay goes full-throttle in confronting his biggest adversaries, including Hipolito (John Arcilla), First Lady Lily (Lorna Tolentino), and Lito Valmoria (Richard Gutierrez).
Beyond its stellar achievements online, the five-year-old Kapamilya primetime program is just a few percentage points away from hitting its pre-shutdown AGB NUTAM ratings.
On Monday, May 24, the show breached the 11-percent mark for the first time since it went back to free television in October last year. It further improved the following day with an 11.3% rating. Comparing these figures to the show’s ratings in the first quarter of 2020, the show is close to surging past its pre-shutdown might.
In January 2020, for example, the ratings of the program were ranging between 10% and 15%. It is worth noting, however, that the action-drama series, alongside other ABS-CBN-produced programs that still airs with limited free TV reach. That made its 11% AGB NUTAM rating even more singular.
The show currently contends with GMA Network’s First Yaya, in dominating its timeslot. Based on the data provided by AGB Nielsen, the Kapuso show maintains its lead over FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, as it posted an average of 20% NUTAM rating.
First Yaya’s win is highly sensational as it marked the first time a Kapuso show ‘overwhelmingly’ defeated the half-a-decade-old Kapamilya program on the NUTAM rating board.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano previously toppled 16 Kapuso programs, which all failed to dethrone the ABS-CBN show from being the number one primetime series. Descendants of the Sun, its most recent rival, managed to record a 10% rating during its pilot on February 10, 2020, which was still a far cry from FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s 15%.
Should FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano keep its momentum, breaking into the top three programs nationwide–it won’t come as a surprise. With First Yaya’s rumored exit, the Coco Martin-starrer will see the finale episode of its 17th rival Kapuso show.
