Kapamilya star Enchong Dee expressed his feelings of betrayal anew as the ABS-CBN network marked its first anniversary of being shut down on free TV and radio.
To recall, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease-and-desist order against ABS-CBN last May 5, 2020. This was after the NTC refused to renew the network’s franchise license earlier in February 2020.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Dee recalled the events back in May 2020 when his home network was announced of being shut down.
“I was at home when Kabayan said the final message in TV Patrol. Hindi ako makapaniwala. I was quiet. I was disheartened. I was angry. I had a lot of questions left unanswered. Para kang nagulangan ng mga taong nakaupo sa gobyerno. Mabigat sa puso ‘yung mga panahon na ‘yon,” he said.
When the 32-year-old actor was asked about what he felt when ABS-CBN was shut down, he explained that he felt ‘betrayal.’
“Because I thought this administration will truly bring in effective and good governance. It showed me the value of research and study during election periods,” Dee said.
The actor also explained what May 5 meant to him. He said that the mentioned date is proof of how ABS-CBN is true to their tagline of being ‘in service of the Filipino people.’
“May 5 is the day ABS-CBN showed the Filipinos and the world that we are serious when we say “In the Service of The Filipino People Worldwide.”
“No matter what, hope in my heart is still in my heart until now, for ABS-CBN and for our country.”
Enchong Dee is one of the “homegrown” ABS-CBN talents. He has been with the Kapamilya network for about 15 years since he first started in 2006.
He is known for his roles in ‘Tayong Dalawa’, ‘Katorse’, ‘A Love to Last’ and remakes of ‘Mara Clara’ and ‘Maria la del Barrio.’
Dee is known for being vocal about his support for his home network as well as for his opinions about the Philippine government.
He previously expressed his dismay for Alan Cayetano and his siblings for they sided with the administration’s stance of denying the franchise application of ABS-CBN.
