Recently, ABS-CBN proudly announced its Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster. The British creators expressed their confidence in ABS CBN’s vision for the remake. The local version is titled The Broken Marriage Vow.
The series will star Jodi Sta. Maria, Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijan Jaranilla in the lead roles.
Dreamscape Entertainment will produce it and Connie Macatuno will be the director.
British Creators highlighted the commitment of ABS CBN for this upcoming series.
“What’s inspired me from the outset in our discussions with the wonderful creative team at ABS-CBN Entertainment is how committed they are to telling this story in a way that will excite, entertain, and inspire viewers,” André Renaud, SVP of Format Sales for BBC said.
Also, the BBC executive revealed that the Philippine version of Doctor Gemma is based on the British character. Local viewers will find Sta. Maria’s Dr. Jill Ilustre familiar or relatable.
“How this doctor will connect to the community, where she lives, and her family, and her journey will be a uniquely Filipino story,” Renaud said.
One thing is for sure, the audiences should expect a reflection of Filipino culture. Doctor Jill’s character is a community doctor, and the theme of female empowerment will be prominent in the story.
“We couldn’t be happier with the vision that the executive team has already shared with us,” Renaud said.
“It’s our pleasure to continue to work closely with these teams as the story comes to life.”
The ABS-CBN version of Doctor Foster is the sixth foreign adaptation, following versions in France, Russia, Turkey, India, and South Korea.
The Korean reboot, The World of the Married became the country’s highest-rated cable-TV drama and drew a huge audience from Filipinos. ABS-CBN also broadcasts it locally.
“I’m confident that this sixth adaptation of ‘Doctor Foster’ will sit with honor alongside her sisters around the world.”
ABS- CBN COO of Broadcast, Cory Vidanes, said that the network is most grateful to BBC for entrusting them the Philippine version of the British drama.
