Rabiya Mateo shared her thoughts and plans when she ended her journey in the most prestigious beauty pageant Miss Universe 2020.
Mateo said in an interview with ABS-CBN, she still feels like a winner because of all the love and the support the people showed her.
“I may fail to bring home the crown but I feel like I’m still a winner, with the warmth and support of the Filipino community here,” said Rabiya.
The 24-year-old beauty queen said that she is looking into entering the entertainment industry and wants to try out acting.
“Maybe I’m gonna take a short break from social media, from everything just to be back in my shape. After that, actually I’m planning to go into show business. So, who knows?”
Her plans of entering show business are common for beauty queens as former Miss Universe 2015 and 2018– Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, respectively, also tried it out.
Pia starred in Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad (2017) along with Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla. She also starred in My Perfect You (2018) with Gerald Anderson.
Catriona, on the other hand, became part of the ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime and ASAP Natin ‘To before moving to TV5 and hosted the now-defunct variety show, Sunday Noontime Live.
Meanwhile, when Mateo was asked about her opinion on not being able to enter the top 10 in Miss Universe 2020.
She said that she felt sad but she is proud of the girls who made it in.
“Combination din ng emotion eh, [noong] umpisa na hindi ako natawag sa top 10, I felt sad but seeing the girls who made it, deserving talaga ng lahat. I guess hanggang doon lang talaga ‘yung destiny ko but it’s okay, marami pa akong kailangang gawin, marami pa akong kailangang matutunan and tuloy pa rin ‘yung laban natin.”
Aside from her plans of entering the showbusiness, Mateo also said that she plans to search and train the next candidate of the Philippines for Miss Universe 2021.
Recently, she trended after she shared a witty remark on Instagram three days after the loss. She shared a picture of her Miss Universe team with the witty caption: “Lotlot and friends” along with a peace sign emoji.
