The pandemic has posed too many problems to everyone. And just like most people, ABS-CBN’s love team Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza have had problems during the pandemic too.
The two, which is popularly known as KarJon, shared their struggle amid the pandemic. They were this year’s Big Star hosts, an online talent search.
In Aljon’s case, living in his hometown in Pampanga was a headache. In between tapings, his number one problem is the noise.
“Sobrang nakakainis talaga yung mga manok, mga motor na dumadaan, at mga aso,” shared Aljon.
Although he did prepare for the taping, the noise outside his residence always delays their shoot. That is why he is thankful for the team behind Big Star for having patience with his situation.
Meanwhile, Karina, who is living alone has a problem when it comes to space. With her unit being small, she has to make adjustments in order for her to work.
“Kung si Aljon ang kalaban niya mga manok, aso, at tricycle, dito yung space. Kasi yung unit ko hindi kalakihan. So ‘yung lamesa inaakyat ko sa kama ko. Then yung couch iuurong ko, napakahirap. Biglang parang naging studio ‘yung unit. So hindi ako nakakaupo and stuff like that,” shared Karina.
Amid the pandemic and its harsh situation, the two have had some good experiences. Aljon gets to spend time with his family and Karina found ways to be productive.
“Nakakatuwa kasi aside na nasa bahay ako, may mga nagagawa ako. Nalilibang ko ang sarili ko and at the same time family bonding. May work from home naman so okay naman siya,” Aljon said.
“Aside from work from home and doing live streams, nakakapag general cleaning ako. Nakakapagluto na rin ako and nagsesearch ako ng pwede pang gawin. Ngayon plano kong magkaron ng Spotify podcast. I’m trying to make my day productive pa rin,” Karina said.
Now that the two have shown potential in the hosting scene, KarJon opened about the possibility of hosting individually.
Aljon said that it is no different with their hosting gig in Big Star since they are hosting the show virtually.
“Sa tingin ko ginagawa naman namin siya both. Meron naman kaming hosting na magkasama, meron din naman kaming mag-isa lang. At tsaka kapag nag-hohost kami, hindi talaga kami magkasama ng personal. So kapag nagshoshoot, magkaiba kami ng team na sinasamahan,” Aljon said.
His partner, Karina shared that it is a good opportunity for both of them to grow individually. With them not working together means they get to work with different people, learning different things.
“Sa hosting, walang problema. Maganda din na mag-improve kami with different people. Kasi mas madami kaming matutunan with different groups. Wala talagang problema samin ni Aljon. And kung magsasarili man kami sa hosting, mas malalaman namin kung ano ang kaya namin,” shared Karina.
KarJon recently hosted ABS-CBN’s online talent search, “Big Star: Gandang Naturally Fresh.” Last March 31, they announced its winner, Ruth Paga, a vlogger from Kalinga Province.
