Kapamilya host and actress Toni Gonzaga shared her secret to having a clean image as an artist as she managed to avoid issues and controversies as a public figure.
In a virtual interview with G3 San Diego that premiered on YouTube on April 19, Toni gave the credit to how her parents raised her especially her Daddy Bonoy.
“Hindi siguro magiging ganito o maayos ako as a person and as an artista kung hindi rin sa guidance nila.
“And ‘yung Daddy ko din kasi magaling mag-brainwash eh. Lagi siyang nananakot. Lagi ‘yan,“ she confessed.
Toni is known for her calm and collected personality which made her one of the most respected personalities in the industry.
She is dubbed as the country’s Multimedia Star.
Gonzaga also explained that she always process her thoughts before doing something or letting her mouth speak which contributed to having a clean image.
“Siguro dahil introvert ako — ang mga introverts kasi they are thinkers eh. We don’t say much when we’re with people, but there’s so much going on in here.
“We process so many things in our heads na before we talk, before we speak, before we make a decision, ay grabeng filter na ang inabot niyo dito.”
With how she presents herself to the public, Toni said that she is often called ‘fake’ compared to her sister Alex Gonzaga who is known to be candid and straightforward.
She explained that she is true to her personality saying, “Kaya parang ang laging comparison sa’min ni Alex na parang si Toni she’s so careful.
“Parang she’s too fake. Bilang ang mga kilos niya. Ganu’n talaga ako as a person. Kahit nu’ng bata pa talaga ako ganu’n na talaga ako. Lagi akong nag-iisip na ‘Oh ‘pag ginawa ko ‘to’ baka ganito ang mangyari.”
Toni Gonzaga has been in the showbiz industry for about 20 years. However, with all her experience, she said that there are still times when she gets hit by her insecurities.
“Laging may question na ganu’n. Am I still good enough to do this? Am I still capable of doing this? Should I still be doing this?” she said in a previous interview with Boy Abunda.
“Kasi the moment that you feel na you know it all, you have it all, that’s the moment you stop learning.”
Toni Gonzaga is one of the most successful artists in her generation. Aside from being a singer and a television host, she has also starred in various Kapamilya hit films and series.
She currently hosts the online talk show I Feel U. She is set to star in an upcoming film which is a Filipino adaptation of the Korean romantic-comedy My Sassy Girl. She is also set to star in an upcoming film The Exorcism of my Siszums with her sister, Alex.
