After blaming ABS-CBN and its news crew for being chased by the Chinese vessels on the West Philippine Sea, DFA Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr is singing a different tone this time. He praised ABS-CBN.
In response to a Netizen’s comment about ABS-CBN still being a more reliable news source, despite lack of franchise, and Locsin agreed. He said that no one could beat the media company in terms of delivering news.
He even compared the Network to the government-owned PTV4, whom he said–no one ever gets to watch.
“Talaga; no one can beat ABSCN in news; the elan, adventurism, occasional bullshit like seasoning. Nobody of course watches government media. It’s been like that since before Marcos time, during Marcos time, and way after Marcos time. No one believed Maria Montelibano’s PTV4.”

Just last week, Locsin blamed ABS-CBN and its news crew for the incident that occurred on the West Philippines Sea.
The DFA Secretary in a tweet said the ABS-CBN news crew’s experience at the WPS is a result of the Network’s not having a franchise.
“Wala kayong franchise kasi. Sabi ko na, mag apply kayo in GMA time when she signed your giant Meralco franchise. I told you na, go for ABSCBN prangkisa too; we’re on a roll; and I was in Committee on Franchises – an ex-ABSCBN talent. Wala, shy daw. Pasok si PNoy: NO!!” Locsin said.
Kapamilya journalist Chiara Zambrano reported on Thursday, April 8, that they were chased by Chinese vessels including two type-22 (Houbei Class) fast attack crafts while sailing inside the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone at the WPS.
The news crew aboard a Filipino fishing vessel was about to go to the Ayungin Shoal to check Filipino fishermen’s situation there but they were blocked and chased by the Chinese navy boats, which made them decide to go back to Palawan.
Meanwhile, in a subsequent tweet, Locsin also thanked Chiara Zambrano, adding his Assignment crew (former ABS-CBN current affairs show) also did the same with the Abu Bakar coverage.
“Thank you. Just like my Assignment crew in the thrust to Abu Bakar. Loved it.”

Locsin has been a long-time ABS-CBN broadcaster. Before joining the Duterte administration, his last stint with ABS-CBN was his editorial segment in the Network’s longest-running newscast–The World Tonight.
