Actor-singer Joao Constancia shares how Star Magic Workshops helped him prepare for his Maalaala Mo Kaya lead role.
In the virtual press conference for the Star Magic Workshops for 2021, Constancia said that his workshop helped him prepare through rehearsals, despite his nerves.
“In my last MMK, I was super nervous about it. But then after the workshop, after all those hours of rehearsing and everything, when it came to set, I just had to rehearse my lines lang, and I knew already what to do.”
He added that the online sessions with ABS-CBN Star Magic as the Head of Artist Training and Workshops, Direk Rahyan Carlos, works right away.
“For me, it works right away. Like I can tell, it really works. After every workshop, I’m more hungry to learn, to become a better actor.”
He also added that the workshops helped him in his personal life as they enabled him to communicate what he feels.
“It helped me out a lot, but it also doesn’t just help me out at work. It also helped me out in my personal life.
“I got to be more vulnerable to my friends, talk about certain things in life.”
Constancia began his career as a singer-dancer at the reality boy band competition Pinoy Boyband Superstar in 2016.
He joined the boy group, Boyband PH. Then, he ventured into acting, which landed him the lead role in the Boys Love movie My Lockdown Romance, and on an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.
