Megastar Sharon Cuneta reacted to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the country, saying that the Philippines is number one, but not in a good way.
On her Instagram, Cuneta posted a graph showing the upward trend of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines for 2021 compared to Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
Also, Cuneta asked what is happening to the country, noting that the Philippines is number one, but not in a good way. Cuneta also wrote that she prays for the frontliners, the poor, families who have lost loved ones, people not following the safety guidelines, and corrupt officials.

Netizens commented on her post, which earned responses from the Megastar, herself.
A Netizen asked Cuneta for her suggestion to the COVID-19 Crisis.
In response, Cuneta wrote that it’s not her job to suggest, noting we have elected officials for that. However, if she was an official, Cuneta wrote that she would have focused on contract tracing, supplying personal protective equipment, and extending help to the Filipino people. Most importantly, she would have set her politics aside to secure the COVID-19 vaccines.
Then, another Netizen commented on who is Cuneta asking in her post.
In response, The Mega Star wrote, “who would YOU ask?”
One Netizen pointed out that Cuneta should ask those who aren’t following the safety guidelines and stop blaming the government.
Cuneta responded, noting that many are to blame and not just the people.
Finally, one Netizen questioned Cuneta’s intentions in posting the data, whether it serves as a wake-up call or to create hatred toward the government.
Cuneta responded, noting that her post was a wake-up call for every Filipino citizen, especially the Government.
Earlier, Cuneta urged the public to follow safety protocols amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in March 2021.
As for a long hiatus in her acting career, Cuneta will star in her comeback movie, Revirginized under Viva Films and directed by Darryl Yap.
