Senator Bong Revilla Jr. will make his TV comeback via his upcoming action fantasy series Agimat ng Agila, which will premiere on May 1.
The Kapuso series was supposed to premiere on May 22, but Revilla announced on his facebook account that the series will premiere sooner than it was first announced.
“Lilipad na ang pinakaaabangan nating AGIMAT NG AGILA sa GMA ngayong darating na May 1, ganap na alas-7:15 ng gabi!” the senator wrote on April 22.
The series will finally push through after the shooting was previously put on hold in 2020 due to the threat of COVID-19.
According to an article by PEP, Agimat ng Agila director Rico Gutierrez mentioned that Revilla may be excited, but was a little uneasy while taping since the actor-turned-politician has been away from action films for a long time.
“Excited na excited si Senator Bong, kasi ang tagal niyang walang action film na ginagawa, pati action series. So, ito iyong pagbabalik niya.
“Noong umpisa, aminado si Sen na nanibago siya. It took a while bago gumawa uli siya ng ganitong project, e. Sabi niya, ‘OK ba? OK ba naman?’ Direk Gutierrez shared.
“After second, third take… parang nanumbalik na. Kasi, iyong first scene niya, with Sheryl Cruz. So, I think, na-warm up siya doon.”
Revilla has been away from doing films and TV series since he entered Philippine politics in 1995. He is currently a senator of the Philippines in which he assumed into office in June 2019.
His last film was Si Agimat, Si Enteng at Ako in 2012 where he starred with Vic Sotto and Judy Ann Santos. His last TV series appearance was the title role Indio in 2013.
The upcoming TV show will be Revilla’s first program after he was absolved by an anti-graft court in December 2018.
