Robin Padilla and his wife Mariel Rodriguez got into an argument regarding the vaccination drive of the national government.
On Padilla’s Instagram, he posted a video narrating the discussion between him and his wife.
In a few seconds of the video, Mariel shared that her father and her relatives in the U.S. have been inoculated against COVID-19. She then revealed her achievement that she got her grandparents in the Philippines, inoculated as well.
“Yung dad ko nakapag-vaccine na sila. Yung mga kamag-anak ko sa States nakapag-vaccine na sila. So dito sobra akong proud kasi yung lolo’t lola ko, dahil senior citizens na sila, nakapag-vaccine na sila,” she shared.
But when she informed her husband that she will accompany her grandparents to the vaccination site, Padilla stopped her.
“Pinigilan ako ni Robin. Kung ako talaga gusto ko pupunta na ako dun. Ihahatid ko ang lolo at lola ko,” Mariel continued.
The reason is that Mariel would like to get injected with the vaccine as well! That is why Robin discouraged her from coming along to the vaccination site.
“Syempre pag andun na ako baka turukan din nila ako. Ayaw! Pinigilan ako! Di daw ako senior citizen,” she added.
Robin stopped her not because he is against the vaccine. But because the actor is a law-abiding citizen and would like to adhere to the Government’s proclamation that frontliners and senior citizens must be the first to receive the vaccine.
“Ang sabi ko wala ka sa priority. Ang sabi ko sa kanya, bibili na lang tayo,” Robin said.
“Ang sabi kasi sa batas, frontliner at senior citizens.”
Padilla then explained that there is nothing wrong with his wife getting inoculated first. His problem is the criticism that will come after Rodriguez gets her dose of the vaccine.
“Wala naman akong problema kung mauna siya. Kasi sa akin naman magandang example yun sa mga tao. Na makita nila si Mariel hindi natakot, nagpabakuna. Ang problema ko babe, andaming mga taong gagawa ng istorya, ang sasabihin nagpa-VIP ka,” he reasoned.
“Gets ko naman, so maghihintay nalang ako na ma-vaccine kayong lahat. Pero kung meron kayong pagkakataon magpa-vaccine na kayo,” Mariel stressed.

Meanwhile, many celebrities have received their vaccination to encourage the public in getting vaccinated.
Alice Dixson, Gloria Diaz, Coney Reyes, Tim Yap, Wil Dasovich, and Ogie Diaz were some of the celebrities who received their jab of Covid-19 vaccine.
However, it has been an issue recently as some celebrities got inoculated ahead of the supposed priority group.
Last March, actor Mark Anthony Fernandez received criticisms as he received his first dose of vaccine despite not being included in the priority list.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto also got into a controversy as he and his half-brother Lawrence Anthony Mumar were accused of using their political connections to have their family vaccinated who were not part of the priority group.
In the meantime, most ordinary Filipinos have yet to receive their dose of COVID-19 vaccine as there is a growing concern about its effect that would lead to another Dengvaxia scandal.
