Filipino Singer and Tawag ng Tanghalan judge Rey Valera spoke about his move from ABS-CBN’s Its Showtime to TV5’s reboot of the Videoke Game Show from the ’90s, Sing Galing.
In the media conference for the game show, Valera said he’s a freelance artist.
“Ganito ‘yun, kahit saan naman ako. Freelancer ako kahit noon pa. Ma-GMA7, Ma-ABS-CBN,” said Valera.
Valera then added that before accepting the offer for TV5’s Sing Galing, he finished the season of Tawag ng Tanghalan from Its Showtime.
“Pero syempre, ‘nung TNT, Tawag ng Tanghalan, ‘nung nag ano na, tinapos ko yung season. Hanggang season 4, hanggang grand finals,” Valera added.
Valera also said that he discussed his plans with the showrunners of Its Showtime and ABS-CBN.
“Dun lang ako nag decision na magpaalam. Syempre para subukan naman ‘yung ibang venues o ‘yung ibang roads,” said Valera.
Additionally, Valera revealed that most of the staff of the show came from ABS-CBN.
“Di rin naman ako nagsisisi dahil only to find out na ‘yung mga kasama ko doon, sila rin ‘yung nandito.
“Kaya ‘nung napunta ako sa Sing-Galing, parang hindi ako nag-adjust dahil lahat sila eh, halos lahat sila ay, dating mga kasama,” said Valera.
Finally, Valera highlights that being a freelancer, he does not have an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN that impedes his stint in TV5’s Sing Galing.
“Kaya ‘nung nagpaalam naman ako, ay wala namang problema sa akin dahil at sa kanila naman I’m sure, dahil wala namang contract na magiging problema sa kanila o sa akin,” said Valera.
Earlier, Valera returned to Tawag ng Tanghalan despite ABS-CBN’s Shutdown.
Sing Galing is a reboot of the multi-awarded Videoke game show from the ’90s hosted by Allan K and Ai-Ai de las Alas. The show also caters to netizens, with Tiktok star Viral Zinger Zendee.
