On April 20, 2021, the Maginhawa Community Pantry temporarily halted its operation after the initiator, Ana Patricia Non, posted on facebook her experience on PNP profiling efforts and red-tagging done by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Thus, Non sought protection from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Community Pantry initiator, Non, expressed her fear for the safety of herself and her family as there are false accusations about her being linked with the communists.
She said “I have bad news. Tomorrow [Tuesday] we will put the #MaginhawaCommunityPantry on pause for the safety of our volunteers.”
Non shut down the allegations about her being a member of rebels.
In an online press conference, GMA reporter Tina Panganiban-Perez threw an interrogating kind of question, “Meron ka nga bang links to communist groups?”
Non clarified that her sole purpose of initiating a community pantry was because of Bayanihan and not for personal agenda. Amid the pandemic, Non wanted to help those people who are in dire help.
The idea of having a community pantry was derived from the food banks in Australia and the United States. The red-tagging invalidated the efforts of those who built several community pantries and that the spirit of Bayanihan was misunderstood as threatening acts.
The public sparked uproar upon knowing the false red-tagging on Non.
Netizens were angered.
Tweets from different personalities arose.
Danilo Arao, tweeted his dismay at how the media asked Non about her ties with the communists, “DEAR JOURNO: To ask a red-tagged person if he or she is a communist is to assume truth behind a baseless accusation. Please be more professional and ethical. Two words: Nakakahiya ka!”

A Netizen named John Molo, tweeted that communists are found in the West Philippine Sea and not in the community pantry. His tweet was ‘Once again, if its communists you seek, they are there in the West Philippine Sea.
“To see rebels or invaders in a “community pantry”, raises a question of priorities…or an issue of wrong spelling.'”

The famous educator vlogger, Lyqa Maravilla tweeted, “Kung ayaw ninyong pumila ang taumbayan sa community pantries, have government personnel deliver goods to them instead. Kaso “walang budget” para diyan, no?
“Wala na kasing pera. Now, kung walang maitutulong, huwag na lang humarang, ‘di ba? Yun lang naman.”
