Actress Kim Chiu expressed her confusion as she trended on twitter along with ‘#LugawIsEssential’.
A GrabFood rider was caught recently by the blocked by officials in San Jose del Monte’s Muzon area for delivering ‘Lugaw’ for a customer.
The officials believed that ‘Lugaw’ is not essential thus, the delivery was violating the curfew hours being implemented due to the reimposition of ECQ.
Secretary Epimaco Densing III of the Department of the Interior and Local Government said in an interview, was asked whether ‘Lugaw’ is essential or not.
Rather than enlightening the people with his reply, he even caused more confusion for the people.
“Sabi niya kasi, non-essential si lugaw. Hindi talaga essential si lugaw. Pero kung sinabi niya, essential ang lugaw, ‘yun, tama ‘yun. Ang lugaw. Pero si lugaw ang binanggit niya. Non-essential talaga ‘yun sa pananaw namin.”
With Densing’s statement, Netizens tracked back Kim Chiu’s ‘Bawal Lumabas’ gaffe and compared them.
@chessmesskween said that the ‘Lugaw’ statement has dethroned ‘Bawal Lumabas’ gaffe for its irrelevance and futility.

Pathetic. When you tried to be witty and snarky but ended up being a bad copy cat version of kim chiu's viral "baral lumabas"
Yan ang non-essential. Di kayo lugaw sir. Sabaw. https://t.co/gGQjIz5pC3

Kim’s gaffe seemed to have made more sense compared to Densing’s. At the time, the actress just struggled to explain her side well.

Netizens also pointed out how Kim turned that controversial gaffe into something beneficial for most people. Kim recently made a song out of her viral gaffe and used the earnings to help people in need during this pandemic.
Netizens compared the two individuals. According to them, Densing is a public servant paid by the Government compared to Chiu, who responded to the pandemic using her own money.

DILG USEC Densing is being compared to Kim Chiu coz of his Lugaw paandar.
Well, think about it. The former is being paid by the people’s hard earned money through taxes.
The latter helped a lot of people affected by the pandemic from her own pocket.

‘Bawal Lumabas’ gaffe was a product of Kim’s distress over the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise in July. Her remark was harmless compared to Densing’s ‘Lugaw is not essential’ and placed the delivery rider liable.
Kim Chiu’s gaffe gave her international recognition.
The ‘Lugaw’ statement exposed the incompetence and unjustness of our government.
