Today, Kasai shares her new track ‘I Don’t Really Think About You No More’. The song features production from Frank Ocean collaborator Vegyn, and appears on her forthcoming debut EP ‘Not That Normal Pt. 1’ set for release via Dirty Hit in May. Watch the video here.
Saying it like it is, Kasai continues to tell her truth. Her unwavering confidence is heard on ‘I Don’t Really Think About You No More’ as she walks away from an ex once and for all. As Kasai’s honey dipped vocals roll over hypnotic gentle percussion; the single radiates with a cool and calm defiance.
“The song ‘I Don’t Really Think About You No More’ serves as an interlude on my EP and is about someone who doesn’t deserve to be in your life anymore.” says Kasai, “Most of us know right from wrong but sometimes it feels like you can’t control or help when someone is intrusively taking over your thoughts. You know every reason for not respecting them anymore but still think about them and hate it and long for the day it stops. Saying ‘I Don’t Really Think About You No More’ out loud when you still do is the motivation you need to hear. That was me to me when I made this.”
‘Drunk Diary, Weed and Liquor’ was the first single to land from her forthcoming EP and across ‘Not That Normal Pt. 1’, we hear Kasai bear her soul as she excavates a past romance but now she stands proudly independent.
Kasai hails from West London and her Anglo-Indian parents raised her on a diet of church gospel, Bjork, Erykah Badu and J Dilla. All of which have influenced the intuitive R&B she makes today.
Having previously collaborated with Joey Bada$$ on 2018 single ‘Pretty Boys’, Kasai’s debut EP features production from IzyBeats (Koffee, Jorja Smith, Masego), Vegyn (Frank Ocean, A$AP Mob, Amine) and was mixed by Spike Stent (Beyonce, Bjork, Frank Ocean).
