Kapamilya veteran journalist Lynda Jumilla countered Rep. Mike Defensors’ allegation that ABS-CBN is spreading fake news against him and his Ivermectin initiative.
In a Facebook post, Defensor slammed ABS-CBN for publishing an article about his Ivermectin push as fake news.
According to Defensor, it’s not true that the Ivermectin he will be distributing is a veterinary drug. Defensor said it is a human-grade Ivermectin that is prescribed by doctors.
“Isang malaking FAKE NEWS ang pinapakalat ng ABS-CBN na ang ipinamimigay ko na Ivermectin ay isang veterinary drug. Wala pong doktor ang mag-peprescribe ng gamot na para sa mga hayop. Masyado po atang nilang minamaliit ang mga tao na nagsasabing maaaring gamitin na precautionary medicine ang Ivermectin. Ito po ay human grade Ivermectin at nakapaloob po ang proseso ng pagbibigay sa regulasyon ng FDA.”

Meanwhile, Jumilla as head of the ABS-CBN News digital platform defends the news article and countered Defensor’s claim.
In a tweet together with the screenshot of Defensor’s social media post, Jumilla said there is nothing fake in saying Ivermectin is a veterinary drug since it is really a veterinary drug here in the country. He even dared to confirm it to the FDS.
Jumilla also added that it is also not fake news that distributing Ivermectin is illegal since it has no approval yet from the FDA for human use.
There’s nothing FAKE about calling ivermectin a veterinary drug because here, it IS a veterinary drug. Kahit itanong pa natin sa FDA.
There is, however, something ILLEGAL about distributing drugs that are not authorized by law. Kahit itanong din natin sa FDA at pati sa DOJ. pic.twitter.com/08uo232Fpf

Defensor has been at the center of social media controversy after announcing that he will distribute Ivermectin to his constituents for free. Although FDA and DOH have warned that doing such is illegal and against the law.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Defensor attacked the Kapamilya network.
He was one of the 70 Cayetano-led congressmen who voted to reject the ABS-CBN franchise application. He was also one of the main opposition of the Kapamilya franchise bill along with Marcoleta and Remulla who grilled ABS-CBN over unfounded allegations.
