I Can See You: #Future Director Dominic Zapata bears in mind their series will be available globally and wants to give the Philippines honor.
In a media conference for the newest episodes of the anthology series, Director Zapata highlights that when GMA Network produces a show, they bear in mind that it will be available globally.
“When we produce something, we bear in mind that we are showing this globally.”
He also added that he wants to honor the Philippines, highlighting the chance of streaming platforms picking up the series.
“Bigyan naman natin ng karangalan yung bansa natin. I know that we have a /very/ good chance that /we’ll be/ stream/ed on the most /major/ platforms.”
Director Zapata then said that he wants to give his family a gift they can be proud of through I Can See You.
“Every chance we get bibigyan natin sila ng regalo. And, sa akin para sa mga mahal ko sa buhay ang pinakaregalo ko na sa inyo pag-umalis ako sa bahay. Pag hindi nyo man ako kapiling, pag mapanood nyo ‘yung gawa ko, I want it to be something you can be proud of, so ito ‘yung regalo ko sa inyo.”
Additionally, Director Zapata highlighted their episodes as a social commentary on the effects of social media and the internet. He points out that social media and the internet robbed people today of the pleasures of discovery.
“I think social media, I think the internet as a whole has robbed us of a lot of things, especially my generation would know that.”
“Yung panahon na pag naalala mo or nadiskubre mo, or the pleasure of discovery ang sarap ‘nun dati. Robbed this generation of that.”
He also adds that their episodes comment on how people would rather film an incident instead of helping out.
“We may have been robbing them of that opportunity to help. Like as we’re before pag may nakita kang may inaapi, tutulungan mo ‘yun. Ngayon ang unang mo urge is i-video ‘yun.”
Finally, Director Zapata says the pandemic helped production teams be more prepared. Additionally, he points out limitations help squeeze out the creative juices from their team.
“While I may whine about it a lot given those restrictions, sometimes it really brings out the most creative part of you when you have to work with certain limits.”
“When you’re working with limitations, it squeezes out your creative juices, doon lumalabas ‘yung creativity mo.”
Netflix picked up the first season of I Can See You, and now the anthology series offers its next set of episodes titled #Future with the hopes of streaming on the said platform.
