Despite having limited reach following ABS-CBN’s shutdown in 2020 and rumors of impending cancellation, the Philippines’ top-rated TV program FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano continues to gain popularity among Filipinos.
With this, the King of Philippine Television Coco Martin expressed his gratitude to all those who have continued to support the five-year action-drama series.
The lead actor said it is an honor with the public’s overwhelming support and promised more collaboration between FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and its avid viewers.
“Ang karangalan po ay sa amin. Asahan niyo pa pong mas marami pa po tayong pagsasamahan dahil hinding-hindi mauubos ang aming pasasalamat sa inyong lahat,” said Martin via an Instagram video posted by @b617management.
“Mula po sa bumubuo ng ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ maraming-maraming salamat po at mahal na mahal namin kayo,” he added.
Other stars of the series, such as veteran actors Jaime Fabregas and Tirso Cruz III, actress Angel Aquino, John Arcilla, and newly added actors Richard Gutierrez and Jane De Leon, thanked the fans as well in the same video.
“Nang dahil sa inyo ang ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ ay patuloy na lumalakas at patuloy na lumalaban,” said veteran actor Fabregas.
“Damang-dama pa rin namin ang inyong pagmamahal kahit na tayo’y magkakalayo,” actress Aquino continued.
“Lagi niyo kaming kasama kahit saang channel o platform pa,” added veteran actor Cruz.
“Salamat sa samahang nabuo natin sa halos anim na taon,” said Arcilla.
“Salamat dahil sa gitna ng mga pagsubok… ay nandiyan pa rin kayo para sumuporta at magtiwala,” Gutierrez and De Leon added.
“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” which began airing on September 28, 2015, is currently on its eighth season. It has aired more than 1300 episodes, making it the longest-running drama series on Philippine television due to consistently positive ratings.
On March 3, a publication released reports claiming that the hit teleserye will end sometime in April 2021. Similarly, another publication uploaded an art card on social media with the headline “Coco Martin’s ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ to finally end next month.”
However, not even reports of impending cancellation can kill Cardo Dalisay, the iconic character played by actor Coco Martin.
ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Kane Choa confirmed via direct message that “it’s not true,” denying the show’s imminent cancellation. Meanwhile, according to entertainment reporter Ricky Lo, the action-drama series has been extended until July 2021, just two months shy of its sixth year of broadcast.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano continues to air new episodes on Kapamilya Channel, Cine Mo!, Jeepney TV, A2Z, TV5, and on digital platforms via iWantTFC, TFC IPTV, and Kapamilya Online Live. It is also aired internationally through The Filipino Channel on cable and satellite.
