Actress Dimples Romana upon her return to ABS-CBN appeared in the network’s Huwag Kang Mangamba as Faith Cruz. Though she only has a guest role, the teleserye at some point, beaten Kapamilya’s longest-running TV series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in ratings.
When asked about how she felt about it during an interview with LionhearTV, Romana admitted that she was overwhelmed by it.
Not just because the program is doing well in terms of its TV ratings, but also it has been a tough year for ABS-CBN who, amid the pandemic, still has no franchise.
“Nakakasaya ng puso. It has been a tough journey not just for us in ABS-CBN but in the media industry. Hindi naman in a select few or select group ang naging epekto ng pandemya,” said Dimples.
She is also glad how other shows and not just Huwag Kang Mangamba are doing well in their respective performances.
“It’s really just we have to keep up with the time and be able to adjust. And I’m so happy how ‘Huwag Kang Mangamba’ and other Kapamilya shows are doing so well.”
Romana and the Gold Squad worked together in the 2018 teleserye, Kadenang Ginto.
And now that she is working with them again, nostalgia rushed through her as she sees Francine Diaz and Andrea Brillantes like Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo when they were still starting their illustrious careers.
“Yung Gold Squad parang mga anak ko yan, literal. In fact, when I look at them I remember Julia, Kathryn, and I know that they are off to a very very good start.”
With Gold Squad’s latest project, Huwag Kang Mangamba, Dimples commended Dreamscapes Entertainment for giving such fulfilling shows to this new breed of artists. She also noticed how their fans supported them.
“Dreamscape’s taking good care of these kids. Yung mga fans nila are always there to support them. At nakakatuwang makita.”
In the meantime, while busy with work, she also has her hands full with the opening of her newest restaurant, Alegria Singapura in Singapore.
The restaurant offers a Latin-American-Asian style of cuisine and targets fellow Filipinos living and working in Singapore.
According to Dimples, her goal as to why she opened the restaurant in Singapore is to let Filipinos experience a festive vibe, not only with the ambiance but also with the food they serve.
“So it’s would be nice to be able to stop by at a restaurant like ours in Singapore and be able to experience something that is festive, not only in the ambiance but also in the kind of food we serve.”
