Celebrities and Netizens show support for Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin amid her birthday-cum-community pantry tragedy on Friday, April 23.
Die-Hard Duterte Supporters (DDS) feasted on Locsin’s charitable efforts that turned into a horrible experience, especially to the late Rolando Dela Cruz, the 67-year-old man who fainted while standing in line to receive goods. He was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center but arrived dead.
No forgiveness needed; at least she tried to feed them; one was so starved and weak she couldn’t feed him in time. Blame those who don’t do what she and others like her—like my friends from the very start of the pandemic—are trying to do: feed the hungry and not their egos. https://t.co/rrOqxsoq6W

May isang namatay sa Community Pantry ni @143redangel. Nagalit kayo. Narinig nya.

Which begs the question: ANG GOBYERNO KAILAN N'YO SISISIHIN?!? pic.twitter.com/wJfjqe6fwu

Through twitter, personality Ramon Bautista defended Locsin from the DDS who rabidly attacked the actress-philanthropist on social media, after the incident.
He echoed their usual phrase: “Anong ambag mo?”
Tanong sa mga bumabatikos kay Ms Angel Locsin: “Ano bang ambag nyo?”

Miguel Lago wrote that Locsin has more sense of accountability compared to the Administration.
Angel locsin has more sense of accountability and social responsibility than the whole duterte administration.

Influencer Pipay Kipay also lauded Locsin for holding herself accountable for what happened.
gh0urllll u need to stan Ms. Angel Locsin.

Netizen Bryan Lim Corpuz praised Locsin for the prompt apology for the death of a senior citizen.
#DutertePalpak

Byx Speaks replied to Corpuz and sent support to the actress.

Netizen Diane also defended Locsin, and she cited some people’s silence over the extrajudicial killings and deaths because of the failed COVID-19 response.
You crucify Angel Locsin for an unintended death, but you keep mum about extrajudicial killings and deaths because of failed COVID response? Make it make sense.

Netizen Tan Liwanag also echoed similar sentiments, noted the number of people who died because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.
Sinisisi niyo si Angel Locsin at ang mga community pantries pero hindi niyo masisi ang gobyerno para sa mahigit 15,000 na namatay dahil sa COVID???
— Jason Tan Liwag (@jaseybel) April 23, 2021
Earlier, Locsin organized a community pantry for her 36th birthday. Unexpectedly, citizens of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, swarmed the community pantry, which caused a long queue. Among them is the 67-year old male senior citizen Dela Cruz.
Dela Cruz’s family expressed regret over his death, but they clarified that Locsin is out of any blame for what happened. They also thanked the actress for shouldering Dela Cruz’s hospitalization and burial.
Even before the pandemic, Locsin is active in helping out communities through her initiatives.
Filipinos, especially the marginalized sector of society, flocked to community pantries due to the Government’s failure to address the needs of the people during the pandemic–no long queues in food banks if people were not starving.
