The controversial airing of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) of Chinatown News TV (CNTV) has been called out by the public.
Recently, the Kapamilya Network received backlash after it announced that it will broadcast CNTV on its news channel. This happened despite one of their correspondents being harassed by Chinese naval forces while doing coverage in Ayungin Shoal.
And just days after the Kapamilya Network started broadcasting CNTV, Filipinos have called out the station not to air the controversial program. However, it heard the call from the masses and finally stopped airing the Chinese program.
“FYI, ANC will no longer carry Chinatown News TV.” This is what ABS-CBN journalist Mike Navallo wrote in a tweet this Friday, April 16.
FYI, ANC will no longer carry Chinatown News TV.

Because Filipinos condemned the airing of CNTV on ABS-CBN’s channel, a netizen was glad that after a day of complaining, the Network listened and stopped the broadcast.

Some netizens even appreciated ABS-CBN prioritizing Filipinos’ feelings. They even threw some shade (to the government) that the Network was better in hearing the public’s plea than the government.
Thank you for hearing us out! I hope the man in Malacanang will hear us out by stepping down, too.

A netizen even wished that Pres. Duterte would also listen to the public just like ABS-CBN did. The netizen stressed that if only Duterte listens to people’s whims, then the country would not have been in this pandemic situation.

A netizen lauded the Network for re-thinking its partnership with the Chinese news program. Also, the netizen then hoped that Duterte would also do the same for the benefit of the Filipino and the Philippines.

A netizen commended ABS-CBN for thinking it through before making any decision. The Twitter user then took a jab at the government who despite criticisms, seemed immune.

Definitely, the Network is all for empowering free speech. Now that ABS-CBN did what people wanted them to do, a netizen realized that speech really is a powerful human right.
