Squad Plus member, 15-year-old Alyanna Angeles is willing to follow her actress-philanthropist aunt Angel Locsin’s footsteps.
Angeles, who entered showbiz since she was five years old, and being unable to speak Tagalog fluently found it difficult for a Filipino artist. However, she persevered knowing that she was given a rare opportunity to showcase her talent.
“I started when I was five. And I didn’t see myself in acting. And I also did not know how to speak Tagalog back then. So medyo nahirapan at first. But I grabbed the few opportunities since minsan lang naman ang opportunity na ganyan. A lot of people have talent but not everyone is given the chance so I just don’t want to let it go to waste,” shared Alyanna.
10 years later, she has evolved to become the actress she wanted to be.
That’s because of her aunt, actress Angel Locsin who inspires her to be better and continue improving as an artist.
“I really look up to tita Angel kasi sa lahat ng ginagawa niya, sa advocacies nya, super matulungin sa tao. Sinasabi nila na she’s like a real-life hero. And syempre gusto ko rin marating yung maging magaling umarte,” revealed Alyanna during the virtual press conference of Squad Plus, on Monday, April 26.
But not just admiration, Alyanna wanted to be known as an actress who is not a copycat of her aunt. Instead, she uses her aunt as a reminder to keep her feet on the ground.
“I don’t look at her as someone that I would like to copy. Instead, she’s my inspiration. I like the way she acts and how she still has her feet on the ground pa rin. And she has such a good heart despite kung sino na siya ngayon.”
However, since Alyanna is still young, becoming a philanthropist will have to wait.
Also, she needs to educate herself more when it comes to promoting the welfare of others. That is why she will be learning from her aunt herself.
“I think I would like to talk with her more about that kasi I have to educate myself more since I’m still young. So maybe in the future, I will consider doing that,” she said.
Meanwhile, with all the criticism that Angel received after an incident occurred during her birthday-cum-community pantry, her niece Alyanna sends her message of support: “Tita Gela, I just hope you stay strong and we are all with you. And we hope that you’re okay. Since hindi mo naman kasalanan ang nangyari. We know that your intention is just to help people out.”
Apart from Alyanna, present in the virtual presscon were her fellow squadmates Jimuel Pacquiao as well as siblings Ashton and Analain Salvador. Through their YouTube channel, The Squad Plus fans will get to know more about them as they regularly upload vlogs and games featuring themselves.
