After Mark Anthony Fernandez’s controversial COVID-19 vaccination, Netizens expressed their thoughts and reactions on social media. To them, the actor violated the Department of Health guidelines.
To recall, Fernandez got inoculated with the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine.
The 42-year-old actor did not seem to hide this as he posted with a placard that read: “I Got Mine! Victory Vaccine over COVID-19.”
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez seemed to defend the actor as he explained that Fernandez has “comorbidities” that made him qualified to get prioritized for COVID-19 vaccines.
“Kinausap ko po ‘yung ating city health office Dr. Olga Virtusio regarding the issue of Mark Anthony Fernandez and according to her ‘yung tumingin sa kaniyang doktor, siya ay may comorbidities.
“At alam naman po nating nagkaroon ng depression si Mark, ibig sabihin niyan he’s qualified as the next priority after frontliners,” Olivarez said in an interview with ANC.
Having ‘comorbidities’ means that a person is suffering from two or more medical conditions.
Netizens wrote that most Filipinos are also suffering from the same medical conditions, which made the actor’s special consideration questionable.

“What’s the difference between Mark Anthony Fernandez and the million of Filipinos who suffers from depression and hypertension? What made him special?” the Netizen wrote.
Thousands of Filipinos have hypertension. Many of us are in varying degrees of depression. Have we been vaccinated already?
There’s no excuse for Mark Anthony Fernandez to get vaccinated ahead of all of us! https://t.co/HN8skufJKj

a substitution list is only appropriate when the people next in line are considered frontliners. know that they aren't just health workers. They should be prioritized and not someone like Mark Anthony Fernandez

That paranaque mayor defending mark anthony fernandez will always be peak stupidity.
Just because he has a mental illness, doesn’t mean he gets a free pass to get vaccinated esp. when he’s not even a priority in the first place. 🙂

Other Netizens pointed the COVAX agreement, which the World Health Organization (WHO) implemented–would be a waste for people like Mark Anthony Fernandez, who received special considerations.
The COVAX agreement is a global solution to the pandemic as it ensures that all people will get access to COVID-19 vaccines once they are available, regardless of their wealth.
Forty-four million doses of vaccines from COVAX, mawawala nang dahil lang sa isang Mark Anthony Fernandez (and 5 other mayors?)

sayang yung vaccine na napunta kay mark anthony fernandez knowing na nagkakaubusan na ng vaccines sa pinas. andameng frontliners and senior citizens who also have depression and hypertension, who is not well-off like him. na walang vitamins na tinatake. walang bahay :((

According to CNN Philiipines, Densing said: “Iyong mga sumingit tulad ni Mark Anthony Fernandez na wala sa priority, as of this time wala po kaming nakikitang liability. Mukhang makakalusot sya kung wala. Pero sana yung mga ordinaryong Pilipino na sisingit, makonsensiya naman kayo.”
