Megastar Sharon Cuneta shared that she despises celebrities and influencers who are spreading false information to their fans in exchange for money.
During the zoom conference of her upcoming movie, Cuneta expressed her dismay during the conference meeting for her homecoming movie Revirginized. She mentioned that those types of people have no shame and principles in life.
“Oh my God, ikinahihiya ko sila!” she exclaimed.
“Kasi kunyari pag artista ka, nung kalakasan ko noong araw, may tatakbo kunyari na Presidente, o-offer-an ka nang milyun-milyon para sila endorsohin mo.
“Never ako nagpabayad. Lagi akong… I rather go with this one kahit matalo kasi yung prinsipyo or whatever my beliefs were pumapantay.”
The 55-year-old singer-actress-and host explained that she would always decline a product endorsement when she feels like the product’s credibility is not reliable.
“Parang sa endorsements, this is a well-known fact in the advertising industry. You can talk to anybody in any advertising company…
“Sa dami ng endorsement offers na tinanggihan ko over the decades, dahil ang feeling ko, babayaran nga ako pero yung produkto, parang palpak ‘to or yung serbisyong ‘to, hindi ko malunok,” said Cuneta.
She also mentioned that people who spread fake news are despicable; she feels ashamed that some of them are her peers in the showbiz industry.
“Alam ko mahirap ang buhay, pero when does it stop? When does the moral high ground come in? Do you even have it? Do you even know it?
“Kasi di hamak na mas rerespetuhin ko ang isang totoong tao na tapat sa ginagawa kesa dun sa pasimple kang nagpapabayad para mag-spread ka ng peke.
“Ginagamit mo yung impluwensiya mo sa maling paraan para kumita.
“It’s despicable to me. It’s unacceptable to me. Ikinahihiya ko na sabihing kasama ko sila sa industriya.”
Sharon Cuneta’s upcoming film Revirginized was originally titled MILF. Darryl Yap is the director. She will share the limelight with Rosanna Roces. The film recently began its shooting in a beach resort in Subic, Zambales.
